Ain't Nothin' Like The Real Thing

That's the thought that came to mind tonight when watching Kellie rock out Martina McBride's classic "How Far," which is a song with quite emotional lyrics. I mean, check out this verse from Martina's song:

"How far do I have to go to make you understand
I wanna make this work so much it hurts, but I just can't
Keep on giving, go on living with the way things are
So I'm gonna walk away
And it's up to you to say how far."

And, when Kellie sang that verse and pointed, well, like I said, there ain't nothing like the real thing! There's just no faking genuine emotion, and Kellie said in her interview that she's aware that Martina's song was originally written for an "intimate, love relationship," but, Kellie indicated, when she'd be singing the song, she'd be thinking about her dad. And, that's what I like about Kellie. You see...

This became even more apparent this evening. And, I, for one, find it all quite refreshing! Not all of us are from perfect Kellie Pickler Emotion 2

homes. Not all of us grew up with two parents. And, that's okay. And, what I like about Kellie's example is that she shows that it's all right to not have had a fairytale sort of life. There's no reason to hide that fact. You can be open about it, and you can use your God-given talents to excel, despite your hardships. I think she's putting a great message out, and, the real point is this: when Kellie sang "How Far" all of this stuff I'm talking about shined through. Like I said, there ain't nothing like the real thing.
