We Are Grateful!

Okay, as you all know, Kellie Pickler was eliminated from the American Idol competition on April 26, 2006. I'm sure our first thoughts and feelings were of sadness. Yes, definitely true. But, before I go on any further, I want to say, "Thank you Kellie Pickler!" And, I mean this sincerely, and, for more than just being a beautiful singer. Definitely, for more than just that... and, I'll get to that in a sec...

Now, I know everyone felt sad that Kellie's American Idol journey ended on April 25; however, truly, there is no reason to be sad, because...

This Is Just The Beginning

This is certainly true. This is just the beginning for Kellie. She received wonderful exposure from the American Idol program, and, based upon the interest in this website and the other Kellie websites and all the other wonderful Kellie articles on the world wide web (which we love!), you know, there's no doubt that Kellie captured the imagination of America with her wonderful voice and charming personality, but, like I was saying, there really are more reasons to be thankful to Kellie... because, you see...

Kellie Is An Inspiration!

That's right friends. Kellie and her story and her Grandpa and just the whole Pickler tale is an inspiration that I'm glad I learned about. And, I'm not going to lie... I've got some difficult things in my life that I have to deal with on an everyday basis, and, you see, Kellie showed the world that an individual is not defined by her circumstances. That through positivity and faith in God, an individual can triumph over unhappy beginnings.

Most of us know the story about Kellie's mother and father, and, we saw with what faith and dignity Kellie has learned to accept these hardships... but, not just accept... that's not really putting it right... we saw how Kellie still maintained such a beautiful spirit and positivity despite circumstances that would cause many to become bitter. You know, I was reading an article in The Charlotte Observer which describes some of the abuse Kellie was subjected to as a child, which included being forced to swallow liquid soap.

Now, I don't mention this unhappy information for no reason. See, I don't believe in dwelling on the unpleasant things in life. And, that's really the whole point and what's so inspiring about Kellie. The girl hasn't had it easy! Some cynical types respond, "Well, a lot of people haven't had it easy." And, that's true; however, what's inspiring about Pickler is that she has maintained such an upbeat and beautiful attitude through all of these struggles. Truly, her example is helpful to me! It really is...

And, did you notice... when Seacrest told Kellie that she would be leaving... what did Kellie do? Well, she didn't sing a farewell song, which is customary. No, what she did was she stood up there thanking everyone! And, she was thanking EVERYONE! And, I could tell she meant it. My, oh my, you talk about exiting with grace, dignity, and beauty! Truly, magnificent. Dave Schmidt has put together a wonderful Kellie Pickler podcast (click the green arrow) that sort of sums up the feeling I have right now.
